A past story…. I can remember a customer wanting nothing to do with the suggestion of black walls in her dining room. I told her let’s get it painted. The dreaded artificial ficus tree…..this just seems to be the most popular dust collector.  I write occasionally about pet peeves and this is top on my list.  Not that I am against adding greenery to a room, but there are better choices.  I understand that not everyone can keep a plant alive ( I can relate!), but nothing in a corner is better than this dusty obstacle.

An example of my pet peeve at work.  How does this add to the room?  Very odd looking…like a tree growing from the corner!

An example of charm put into the corner instead of the artificial ficus…..much more exciting and clean.  Corner cabinets, corner shelves, or a decorative screen are all alternatives that would add to the empty space.
